The Tate Geological Museum has been a part of Casper College for 30 years. The Tate houses nearly 3000 fossil and mineral specimens. “Dee” the mammoth, the largest mounted Columbian mammoth in the world, became a permanent display at the museum on March 1, 2010.
A highlight of your visit will be the fossil preparation laboratory where you can watch skilled technicians work on fossil material. The staff is always more than happy to show you their work in progress and answer all questions. Children will enjoy the “Dino Den” which contains many hands-on activities for children of all ages. The museum gift shop specializes in unique jewelry, t-shirts, rock and mineral specimens and geology related models.
