Help AAA Fight Hunger in Great Falls

Great Falls, Montana 1/22/09 - Most Montanans have never experienced going to bed hungry. For approximately 47,000 Montana families that is a daily reality. In today’s economic climate, the need for emergency food is increasing daily as households struggle to pay bills and find work.

During the month of February, AAA is proud to host a food drive in its Great Falls Service Center at 2102 10th Avenue South (next to Target). The Great Falls Community Food Bank will provide bins at AAA for food donations. All items donated will be distributed to needy children, individuals and families in the Cascade County.

“AAA recognizes the benefit of supporting local organizations and given today’s tough times, the food bank is an obvious, fundamental choice,” says Jim Twardos, President/CEO, of AAA MountainWest serving members in Alaska, Montana and Wyoming.  “We encourage citizens and businesses of Great Falls to do the same.”

The Great Falls Community Food Bank was established in 1983 and is one of only three food distribution facilities in the state of Montana. Last year the Food Bank distributed over 400 tons of food to local agencies who provided over 24,000 food boxes and 390,000 meals.

AAA takes pride in supporting community activities and is proud to partner with the Great Falls Community Food Bank. To encourage Great Falls citizens to make a contribution, those who bring a non-perishable food donation will receive a waived $15 enrollment fee when they join AAA.

“I’m grateful for the opportunity to give back to the community that I love dearly,” said Angie Swartz, AAA Great Falls Assistant Manager.

AAA MountainWest Club is dedicated to providing its over 160,000 members in Alaska, Montana and Wyoming with travel, insurance, financial and auto-related services.  A fully taxpaying, not for profit corporation, AAA MountainWest, Inc. works for the improvement of motoring and traveling conditions and is a leader for travel, civic and safety issues.
